Welcome to our Cantor page.

Cantoring is an essential part of our liturgical celebrations. Being a cantor is foremost being a minister. The role of a cantor is a dual one. As a cantor you proclaim the Word in singing the Psalm from the ambo. As a leader of songs you lead the assembly into congregational singing.
Psalms Settings: We are using the Respond and Acclaim Book for our Responsorial Psalms as much as possible. In some instances we will use a different setting of a Psalm. For example we will use the Joncas' setting of Psalm 118 "This is the Day" for Easter instead of the one proposed in Respond and Acclaim. The Gospel Acclamation setting used is usually the one proposed in Respond and Acclaim. However, we change the Gospel Acclamation setting for Advent/Christmas and for Lent/Easter. We will continue using the different mass settings which have been used in the past:
Mass of Spirit and Grace

Heritage Mass

Mass of St Ann

Mass of WIsdom

Liturgy Music Program: The weekly music program as well as the music program for the Holy Days is listed on the left column of this page. Each week is presented as a pdf file that is printable and downloadable. The printed music is available in the music section of the page. When available, links to recordings on YouTube will be provided. For copyright reasons, this page does not host audio recording of the music for our celebrations unless those are in the Public Domain (which is rare).

Cantors at Blessed Trinity: Most of our cantors are members of the Adult Choir. We are also developing a program for younger cantors to participate in leading the assembly in songs for our youth celebrations, children's masses and other masses as well. Cantors rehearse with the adult choir on Wednesday evening from 7pm to 9 pm and also 40 ns prior to the mass they cantor. See Schedules and Notes.

Cantor Resources: Each cantor should always have three resources: 1. Respond and Acclaim book, 2. Choral and Praise Hymnal 3. Breaking Bread Missalette. In addition each should also have a folder with the solo and choir music sung as well as additional music not in the Missalette or in the Hymnal.

 The Liturgical Cycles

Introduction slide

Schedules and Notes

Rehearsal and Mass Schedule (Jan-Jun 2018)

Script

Music Scores

Library by Seasons, Holy Days and Feasts

© Untitled | Design by Patrick botti from templates by TEMPLATED
